It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of April R. Augustine. She passed on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the age of 63, after a long courageous fight with cancer. April was born on April 19, 1960, in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Irene Roe DeLancey. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband David C. Augustine, brother Ronald Schoener, and sister Donna (Schoener) Bowman. She is survived by her loving children, David (Anya) of Alexandria, VA, and Brittney (Charles) of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Alivia and Carleigh Augustine; sister Lynne DeLancey, and a host of friends.

April was a loving and nurturing woman. She worked for many years in finance at the Red Cross while offering countless hours of crisis intervention. As a devoted wife and mother, her family was her priority. She enjoyed the companionship of her husband David, while watching her children and grandchildren grow. She influenced them to be compassionate, loving and responsible people.

Empathetic, joyous, and inspirational are words that describe April. Her beautiful smile and positive outlook radiated from her and knowing her, allowed you to feed off her energy and love. She was steadfast in her support of you when you were down and encouraged you to keep climbing through life’s challenges. She was the wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that everyone dreams of and fortunately for her family and friends, they were able to experience that dream firsthand.

The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 10AM-12PM with April’s Memorial Service to follow at 12PM. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Park immediately following.
