Barbara J. Butterfield\nHorseheads, NY \n\nPassed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the age of 90. Barbara was born July 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Robert and Sylvia Conley Duncan. She was also predeceased by her brother, James W. Duncan. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Thomas D. Butterfield; daughters, Jeanne Smith, Laurie (Edward) Woodhouse and Susan (Richard) Michael; grandchildren, Ryan, Shauna, Ethan, Christopher and Michael; five great grandsons, extended family members and a host of friends. Barbara received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of New Hampshire and a Master’s Degree in education. She was a life long educator, teaching for several school districts and was at one time a braille transcriber. Barbara loved the outdoors, hiking, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and archery. Her hobbies include sewing, gardening, and antiquing with her daughters and close friends. She will be deeply missed. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St., Horseheads, NY 14845 on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 4-6PM.
