Beatrice O. "Betty" Kishbaugh Obituary (1923 - 2014)

KISHBAUGH, Beatrice O. "Betty" passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility surrounded by her two loving sons and two granddaughters. Betty was born February 26, 1923 in Hammondsport, NY, to the late Warden and Helen Crowl Garey. She lived most of her life in the Horseheads area. Betty was pre-deceased by her late and loving husband George, to whom she was married for 65 years. She is survived by her sons Robert Kishbaugh and Edward (Leora) Kishbaugh; sisters, Louise Little and Virginia Mathews; grandchildren, Greg (Kerry) Kishbaugh, Laurie Luckette, Lisa (Matt) Materne and Kelly Kishbaugh; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty worked at Penny's store in Elmira and then at the Eclipse Plant in Elmira Heights where she met her loving husband George and later married in May of 1944. She was a school bus driver in the Horseheads Central School Dist. for 24 years before retiring in 1987. She was a great homemaker. Her hobbies were bowling, knitting, crocheting, fishing during the summer months and she loved to can and freeze fresh vegetables. She and her husband loved to travel visiting their sons while they were serving in the military. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 4-6PM. Betty's Funeral Service will follow at 6PM with Rev. David Sullivan. She will be laid to rest along side her husband in Maple Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 10AM.
