William L. “Bill” Jewett \nBreesport, NY \n\nPassed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the age of 82. Bill was born, August 15, 1940 in Berkshire, NY, to the late Bernard and Mary Ellen Cumberland Jewett. He lived his life in the community he loved.\n\nBill retired after 43 years from Albee Truck as a service manager and will also be remembered for his service with the U.S. Air Force, his career with the Berkshire, Pine City and Breesport Vol. Fire Departments. He was a certified NYSDOH Lab instructor and a American Heart Assoc. instructor. Bill taught countless men and women of our community with EMS education. Bill put forth great effort in anything that came his way.\n\nAlong with his parents Bill is predeceased by his first wife, Helen Clark Jewett, brother Charles Jewett, and brother-in-law, Ronald Jordan. \n\nBill is survived by his wife, Vanessa Knapp Jewett; sons, James Jewett and Dennis Jewett (fiancée Susan Donnelly); grandson, Steffin Jewett; sister, Janet Jordan; family friends Deborah Kierstead; brothers-in-law, C. Mitchell (Cindy) Knapp and Kurt (Wanda) Knapp; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, many close friends and his fury babies, Kiwi, Lacey and Ziggy.\n\nMany Nursing Homes, schools, Libraries and Hospice visits were benefited by Bill and his dog “Cuddles” through the many years. \n\nOn behalf of Bill’s family, we’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph’s Nursing Unit 5th Floor.\n\nThose wishing to remember Bill please consider memorial donations to Breesport Fire Dept., EMS or building fund, PO Box A, Breesport, NY 14816 or The Kramer Foundation, 3171 Watkins Road, Horseheads, NY 14845. \n\nFamily and friends are invited to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 4PM – 7PM. A Fire Department walk-thru will take place at the conclusion of hours at 7PM. He will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery with Military Honors on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11AM.
