Carl J. Olson Jr. Obituary (1941 - 2016)

Carl Joseph Olson Jr., Passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September surrounded by his loving family and best friend Jenny Willow after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 75. Carl was born on April 26, 1941 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Carl J. Olson Sr. and Dorothy Hayes. He was a graduate of Southside High School in 1959 and Alfred State in 1961. Carl was a lifetime Gold Member of Ducks Unlimited, Moose and Eagle Scouts, Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club Member, coached the 1980 HHDS Babe Ruth Baseball 13 yr. old NYS Champions, YMCA youth Basketball, youth Football and Cinderella Princess Softball teams. Carl enjoyed spending time with his family and pets. He also enjoyed a good game of euchre, his grandchildren's sporting events, the NY Yankees, and duck and goose hunting. He is survived by his best friend and caregiver Shirley Olson of Penn Yan, NY; children, Richard Olson of Elmira, NY, Michael (Sharon) Olson of Horseheads, NY, Kerry Harter of Horseheads, NY and Suzanne (Bart) Piersimoni of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Derek, Michael, Matthew, Brandon, Kendall, Karey, Zachariah, Emily, Ryan, and Brianna; great grandchildren, Adelia, Duke, Kaiyden and Emma; special friends, Scott Dewey, Kathy & Terry Donahue and Sue and Jim Getgen. Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family but please join them for a Celebration of his life on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 1-4 PM at the Climbing Vines Pavilion, 511 Hanson Point Rd., Penn Yan, NY.
