Cecil E. "Jiggs" Keister Obituary (1928 - 2015)

KEISTER, Cecil E. "Jiggs" of Horseheads, NY passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Cecil was born on November 22, 1928, a son of the late Ried and Alice Pollock Keister and step father Cecil Baumgartner. Cecil served his country honorably with the Army Air Force during WWII. He retired after 30 years of service as a truck driver for Berman's Motor Express. Cecil was a premier stock-car driver in the 1950's in the southern tier racing circuit. He is also predeceased by his siblings; sisters, Mary "Pat" Andrews, Mabel Forrest, Flossie Huffner, and brother, Lester Keister. Cecil is survived by his former spouse and good friend, Betty Keister of Horseheads, NY; children, Cecil "Chip" (Kathryn) Keister of Horseheads, NY, Terry (Gretchen) Keister of West Oneonta, NY, Sandra Keister Hayes of Horseheads, NY and Scott (Susan) Keister of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Brendan, Corey, Kelsey, Taylor, Elise and Evan; sister, Nellie Spaziani of Elmira, NY, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13 Horseheads, NY on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 5-7 PM with a Funeral Service to follow at 7:15 PM. He will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
