Age 84 of Horseheads passed away on Wednesday morning, June 6, 2012, in the comfort of the place that she loved most, her home. She leaves one kingdom to enter into another. Her strength and courage were evident throughout her multiple challenges with cancer. To the end believing "it's a great life if you don't weaken." She was born in Wiconisco, PA to the late George and Emma Kindler Michalko, the baby of 13 children. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Zip" A. Jansen. Christine's legacy of love includes her children: Debby (Rick) Kincaid, Dawn (Joe) Lyden, Billie (Bob) Claggett, Tom (Mary) Jansen and MaryBeth Jansen; 12 grandchildren and was greatly anticipating the birth of her first two great grandchildren this month; 1 surviving "best" sister, Pauline Tsibidas; sisters-in-law, Catherine Kowalski and Mary Jansen; "daughter of choice" Connie Mathews; special niece Sharon Porosky and many loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. She loved her home and took extreme pride in caring for it. Her passions were decorating for every holiday, inside and out and planting flowers. Her door was always open and all were welcome. She always said that everyone has some good in them. She loved angels and believed "there are angels among us". Her favorite pastimes were bowling, sewing, The Lady Bug Club, playing solitaire, the daily numbers and scratch off tickets. In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads, NY on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 10AM with Rev. Christopher Linsler. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband immediately following at Maple Grove Cemetery.
