Dean S. Foster Obituary (1933 - 2015)

FOSTER, Dean S. of Horseheads passed away on Wednesday evening, February 18, 2015 at the age of 81. Dean was born, December 26, 1933 in Elmira, NY, a son to the late Ralph and Gladys Ryder Foster. Dean is preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret "Margie" Foster; sister, Leona "Maggie" Hughes brother Owen and Twin brother Gene "Steve" Foster. He is survived by his children, Mark (Lana) Foster of Las Vegas, NV and their children, Bradley, Matthew, Kari, Michael, and Christopher; Margie "Sissy" (Stanley) Milstead of Marion, TX and their children, Brian and Daniel; Richard (Karen) Foster of Horseheads and their children, Eric and Melissa; Ralph (Elizabeth) Foster of Horseheads, NY; Ronald (Dawn) Foster of Las Vegas, NV and their children, Nicole and Nathan; Mary (Edward) Bacon of Woodbridge, VA and their children, Christopher and Timothy; Ann (Doug) Houper of Horseheads, NY and their children, Alexa and Calum; and Jeffrey (Christine) Foster of Horseheads, NY and their children, Owen, Abigail and Wilson; nineteen great grandchildren; sister, Gloria Foster; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dean served his country honorably with the US Navy during the Korean War. While working and raising his family he attended seven years of night school at Elmira College receiving his Bachelors Degree. He worked at Eastern Metal for 40 years, starting as a spray painter and worked his way up to become the Treasurer and eventually Chairman of the Board. He also served on the board of directors for Telco Federal Credit Union. He was a kind, caring, fair and humble person. In addition to putting his family first and his love for golf he also put others successes before his own. He would also give his shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 12PM-2PM with his Funeral Service to follow. He will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery alongside his wife immediately following. The family would like to thank the care-givers that took good care of him with a special thank you to Dr. Charnetski and his assistant Megan.
