of Elmira, NY left this world on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the age of 86. Don was born on November 16, 1930 in Canisteo, the son of Lyman and Gladys (Schoonover) Savey. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Loretta Fundurulic; his brother, Charles (Elaine) Savey; and his sister Jean (Jake) Schwitzer. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth (David) Mayo of Oldsmar, Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews along with their children. After graduating from Hornell High School, Don served his country honorably with the U.S. Army. After his discharge he worked for the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad as a mechanic, moving to Elmira, where he met his beloved wife, "Liddy." Upon retiring from the railroad, he worked as a crossing guard with the Elmira City School District for many years. Don was a communicant of St. Casimir's Church. Although he never had children of his own, he will always be fondly remembered as a loving man toward his extended family, a hard worker with a heart of gold. The family welcomes relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 3 - 4PM.
