MEADE, Evelyn Petelchuk
of Horseheads, NY Entered Eternal and Blessed repose on Saturday, August 16, 2014, surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born on November 6, 1928, one of six children of Safron and Mary (Wolosonovich) Petelchuk. She was the beloved wife of William F. Meade Sr. for 53 years before his passing in 2004. Evelyn is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Michael Karney of Horseheads, NY; son and daughter-in-law, William and Lori Meade of Mechanicsville, VA; grandchildren and spouses, Shawn Michael and Kathryn Karney of Elmira, NY, Sarah and Stephen Brown of Horseheads, NY, Richelle and Elvys Padilla of Charlottsville, VA, Kirsten and Kyle Ordway of Quinton, VA and granddaughter Jenna Meade of Mechanicsville, VA. Great-grandchildren, Natalie and Emilia Karney, Shea, Jack and Oliver Brown, and Eliana and Daniel Padilla; Step-grandchildren, Kelsey (Tim) Clair of Hornell, NY, Hilary Packer of Mechanicsville, VA and Gabriel Packer of Canisteo, NY. Evelyn is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Thomas Cheplick of Elmira Heights, brother -in-laws, David Cheplick of Elmira Heights, Frank Peters, formerly of Elmira Heights and Ted Chapman of Horseheads, NY, along with many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her brother Paul Petelchuk and his wife Anna Petelchuk, sister Irene Cusick and her husband William Cusick, sister, Helen Arnold Peters and her first husband Henry Arnold, sister Mary Cheplick; sister-in-laws, Loretta Chapman and Mae (Bud) Dickinson. Evelyn was a faithful Orthodox Christian and a lifetime communicant of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Elmira Heights, NY. Evelyn will be remembered for her many years of employment with Marine Midland Bank, Elmira Savings Bank and in a second career as an associate with The Bon-Ton at Arnot Mall. Evelyn was also a long time election inspector for the Town of Horseheads. The family of Mrs. Meade would like to recognize The Guthrie Clinic, especially Dr. Sheela Prabhu and Dr. Matt Novak, along with the many nurses and care providers of Robert Packer Hospital's 6 Northwest unit and 5 main unit for the care and compassion they gave to Mrs. Meade. Family and Friends are invited to call at the Sullivan Funeral Home on Friday, August 22nd from 2 to 4p.m., Family and friends are further invited to call at Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church, 137-139 Horseheads Blvd., Elmira Heights, from 7p.m. to 9p.m., with a Memorial Service (Panahida) there at 8:00p.m. The Funeral Service is to take place in Church on Saturday, August 23rd at 10:00a.m., followed by committal prayers in Holy Trinity Orthodox Cemetery.
