Jacqualyne T. Owen
of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024. She was 88 years young. Jacqualyne was born January 5, 1936, to the late Thomas and Mary Higgins Tobin. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul E. Owen and granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth. Jacqualyne was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Many may remember her as “Jake”, others Jackie, but she may best be known as “Mamie”. She is survived by: Tom and Maureen Owen and daughter, Madalyn; Tim and Mary Therese Owen and children, Samantha (Kyle) and Sean Paul; Erin Marie and Harry Hillson and children, Taylor (Maddie), Jacqualyne (Chad), Alison and Kipp; Terry Owen; great-grandchildren, Beckett, Charleigh, Drew, and Lilah Grace; sister-in-law, Myrta Owen; several nieces and nephews and many other wonderful family members and friends. She was blessed with 57 years of marriage and will be lovingly remembered for her affection and thoughtfulness in raising her close and caring family. She enjoyed traveling, playing Skipbo, and square dancing with her husband. Her house was filled with the inviting aromas of baked goods, especially her famous pies — the secret to which she lovingly passed on to her granddaughters. Her hugs (given freely) and infectious laugh are two of the things that will be greatly missed. Jacqualyne was an RN, graduating from the Arnot-Ogden School of Nursing. She enjoyed her career and made many life-long friends during that time. The Family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St., at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Jacqualyne’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11am at Sullivan’s Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to Arctic League, PO Box 113, Elmira, NY 14902 in her memory.
