James H. Theopheles\nHorseheads, NY\nPassed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the age of 92. Jim was born on September 20, 1929 in Elmira Heights, NY, the son of the late Harry and Jenne Zervos Theopheles. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lucielle Burt Theopheles; brother, Peter H. Theopheles; sister-in-law, Louise Maleakas Theopheles; sister, Jean (Dimitra) Diacatos, brother-in-law, Jerry Diacatos; sister, Metaxea Peppas; brother-in-law, Sotirios “Sam” Peppas; niece, Eleni Peppas Demetri, and great nephew Richard Jarvis III. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Patti Lynn (Robert) Turner and Marco Jo (Duane) Matejka; grandchildren, Colin (Karis), and their children, Lucas, and Wyatt; Zachary (Nicole) and their children, Ava, Lyla, and Liam; Jesse (Debbie) and their children, Jacob, Scarlett; nieces & nephews; John Diacatos and his children, Elizabeth (Goddaughter) and Michael, Dr. Dennis (Chrisoula) Peppas and their children Sotirios, Dimitrios, and Maria, Alexandra Diacatos Rallis, and her daughter Dimitra Rallis; Harry (Sharon) Peppas and their children Sam and Sophia, Jenne Diacatos Jarvis, and her son Timothy Jarvis; Harry (Lisa) Theopheles and his son Ben, Alexis Theopheles and her daughter Celena; and several extended family members and a host of friends. Jim retired from General Electric after 25 years as a traffic manager. He served his country honorably with the US Army. Faith and his Greek Heritage was always important to Jim as he was a life-long communicant of St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church. Jim was also a 43-year life member of the Elmira #62 Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. He was an avid golfer, Yankees and Syracuse University fan, and loved barleys and hops and a good cigar! The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St., at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Sunday, May 1,2022 from 2-4PM concluding with a Trisagion Service. Jim’s Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 10AM at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 210 Franklin St, Elmira, NY. He will be laid to rest alongside his wife at Woodlawn Cemtery immediately following. Those wishing to remember Jim please consider donations in his memory to his Church.
