James E. Van Nordstrand Obituary (1940 - 2018)

Of Horseheads, NY passed away after an extended illness on, Monday, January 15, 2018 at the age of 77. James was born, August 27, 1940 in Elmira, NY, son of the late George and Anna Rodabaugh Van Nordstrand. He was employed by Westinghouse and later at Corning Hospital as a HVAC mechanic. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marilea Ashley Van Nordstrand of 56 years; sons, Robert J. Van Nordstrand and William E. (Cheryl) Van Nordstrand; brother, Randall (Joyce) Van Nordstrand; sister-in-law, Marion Jessup and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his faithful dog Sadie. James was a long time volunteer fireman in Big Flats and an avid hunter. Most of all he enjoyed being with friends, family and co-workers. It was James' wishes that there be no services. Those who wish to honor James's life are encouraged to make a contribution to a local volunteer fire department of their choice. The family wishes to thank all those who helped James at Elcor Health Services, Corning Hospital and the Corning Guthrie Cancer Center.
