GENOVESE, Joan M. Age 85 of Horseheads, NY, peacefully passed away on April 8, 2015. Joan was born January 18, 1930 in Mayfield, NY a daughter of the late, Charles and Addie Blood Reedy. She is pre-deceased by son, Phillip A. Genovese, brothers, Charles and James Reedy, sisters Marge Reedy and Florence Prussien. Joan is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Joseph Genovese; son, Joel (Kathy Brackin) Genovese; grandchildren, Mia (Scott), Ann, Sara (John), Marisa and Alexander; great grandchildren, Luca and Grayson; daughter-in-law Chong Genovese, and Lisa Panzarella; brother, Edward Prussien and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joan was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was more commonly known as "mimi or grammy" especially by her biggest admirers, her grandchildren. Joans' heart was made of gold and she never missed an opportunity to spoil her grandchildren. Her love and generosity was endless and apparent by her dedication to her friends and family. Joan belonged to the BPOE 62 Elmira Elks and WOES Horseheads Elks Club where she was a frequent volunteer and active member. Joan enjoyed get togethers and celebrations no matter the occasion. She was the life of the party wherever she went and was sure to light up the room with a joke, smile or quick witted comment and would never turn down a lemon martini. Joan was an avid reader, and loved to travel. She and Joe cruised the world making friends and memories everywhere they went. Her outgoing personality and kind smile always left a lasting impression. Joan was also an animal lover who opened her heart and home to any animal in need. The family will welcome relatives and friends on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W.
