John F. Pryslopski,Sr. Of Big Flats, NY passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving wife and family on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the age of 79. John was born in Corning, NY on June 14, 1936 to Alexander and Anna ((Hyriak ) Pryslopski. He graduated from Corning Free Academy in 1954. Always a Yankees fan, John's love for baseball goes back to his childhood when, at 12 years of age, he participated in the Little League World Series with his Corning team. Several members of the team later served in the armed forces, including John who served three years in the USMC. John took great pride in his carpentry craftsmanship, which he displayed for more than 25 years at Corning Glass Works. Those who knew him well are aware of the many family treasures he designed and built, including his own beautiful home. John was a loving husband and father, always concerned about providing well for his family. Each family member treasures the many life lessons that he taught throughout his life. We will never forget his warm and beautiful smile. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Scanlin Pryslopski; a son, John II, of Atlanta, Ga; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Brian Floyd, of Atlanta, GA; a dear nephew Steve Pryslopski of Addison, NY, several other nieces and nephews, as well as many long-time friends. He was pre-deceased by all his siblings: Andrew , Peter, Harry, George, Paul, Catherine and Rose. The family will welcome relatives and friends to St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads, NY on Monday October 5, 2015 from 9:00 -9:45 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitations at 10:00 AM with Rev Christopher Linsler as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Assoc./American Stroke Assoc., PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 or to St. Mary Our Mother Church at the above address.
