Judy J. Sujko
Horseheads, NY
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the age of 74 after a short illness. Judy was born July 14, 1948 in East Aurora, NY, a daughter of the late Edward and Edith Fletcher Koch. She was also pre-deceased by her sister Melissa Batt and brother-in-law, David Rengert.
Judy is survived by her children, Colleen (Jay) Coss Novotny with their daughters, Ava and Maren; Sean M. Sujko and son, Sterling; Danielle (Ron) Sujko Johanson with their sons, Alex, Niklas, and Owen; Johanna (Mickey) Sujko Lincoln with their sons, Zachary and Jacob; brother, Edward (Eveline) Koch; sisters, Susan (James) Brazill, Betsy Rengert; brother-in-law, Thomas Batt; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and several close friends.
Judy had a wonderful childhood, growing up with her beloved grandparents, parents and 4 siblings. She graduated from East Aurora High School Class of ’66. She then attended Vermont College and after graduation, moved to New York City to join Pan Am as a stewardess on their international flights. After Pan Am, Judy enjoyed her hippie years, traveling North America and living in Colorado and Michigan. She then moved back home to East Aurora, NY and worked hard as a single mother, returning to school, and graduating from The University at Buffalo as an Occupational Therapist in 1982. She moved to Horseheads, NY in 1986 with her blended family and worked for GST Boces, Bethany Nursing Home and Arnot Ogden NICU until health issues forced her into early retirement. Judy filled her last two decades of life enjoying her children and especially her 8 grandchildren (who were her whole world!). She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, a skier, she loved to golf, go bowling and fishing. She was always on the go- volunteering at The Clemens Center or with Rotary. She enjoyed many trips to visit family and friends- whom she held close and always made a priority. Judy battled many health issues in her last years, but they never changed her remarkable spirit. She had the most positive, fun attitude that she poured into EVERYTHING that she did!
The family welcomes relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St., at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 2-4 PM. Those wishing to remember Judy please consider memorials to Chemung County SPCA, 2435 St. Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903 in her memory.
