Karen D. Carlsen (Duncan) Obituary (1956 - 2015)

CARLSEN, Karen Lynn (Duncan) of Spencer, NY passed quietly on December 24, 2015 following a short illness. . Karen was born July 3, 1956 in Terre Haute, IN. She grew up in Big Flats, NY, graduated from Horseheads High School in 1974 and lived in Elmira and Ithaca before settling in Spencer in 1984. She had a lifelong love for animals, which led to establishing DanishK Holsteins with her husband in 1985, a business they ran until 2001 when the last of their dairy cows were sold. She loved traveling and seeing new places which she was fortunate to do in the last 15 years. Karen was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Vivian Scudder Duncan as well as her bother, Scott Duncan. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Harry Carlsen, three step-children, three grandchildren, and hundreds of friends and neighbors whose lives she touched with her magnetic personality. It was Karen's wishes that there be no calling hours or services. Her ashes will be distributed in the spring.
