Kathryn J. Messig Obituary (1922 - 2014)

MESSIG, Kathryn J. of Elmira Heights, NY passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 after a brief illness at the age of 91. Kathryn was born June 13, 1922 in Waverly, PA, a daughter of Robert and Harriet Ames Bennett. Her parents, brother and husband, Charles pre-decease her. Kathryn is survived by her son, Carl Messig; daughter, JoAnne (Wes) Campbell; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Eric) Taber, Weston Campbell and Katrina Thompson; great grandchildren, Josh and Jenna Taber. Upon graduating from Robert Packer School of Nursing with her RN she married her husband Charles and moved to Burdett to raise her family. She worked for many years at Schuyler Hospital Emergency Room. After moving to Horseheads she worked at Dr. Roemelt and Dr. Preucil's office until her retirement. She wanted to let all her friends at Villa Serene know how much they meant to her and that she appreciated everyones thoughts and prayers. The family would like to thank CareFirst and Dr. Kaffenberger for their wonderful care. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 1-3PM. Mrs. Messig's Memorial Service will follow at 3PM with Rev. Rhonda Kouterick. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Hector Union Cemetery, Burdett, NY immediately following.
