Miranda Novitsky\nCorning/Big Flats, NY\nAspiring athlete and college student, Miranda Novitsky's love and passion for life did not come to an end with her recent death. Miranda passed away suddenly on the morning of Saturday, July 3, 2021, in a tragic motor vehicle accident, along with her dad, Harold "Duff" Novitsky, who was her #1 fan. \n\nAt only 19, she was an avid soccer player about to enter her sophomore year at SUNY Geneseo. She began her love for soccer at the age of 5 at CVSA. She played for Horseheads High school and was the captain of the Team her senior year. She also played travel GBFC Soccer Club, several other travel soccer clubs and Soaring Capital Soccer Club. She was known to be a "fiesty" competitor on the field yet the first person to bring laughter and a bright light to those around her off the field. Miranda's personality was contagious to everyone she met. She was a sassy, yet silly spitfire; full of life, love and a fierce sense of loyalty to those she cared about. Full of "spunk" and energy, she would drive absolutely anywhere in order to spend time with her friends. More often than not, that time would be spent practicing and making TikTok videos. Miranda was a unique "goofball" with multiple quirky behaviors that everyone remembers and adored her for. Her passion for politics was intense for someone her age, always standing firmly by her beliefs.\n\nShe is predeceased by her grandfather, Ralph "Pete" Champlain, her uncle, Gregory Champlain, and her grandmother, Barbara Novitsky. She is survived by her mother, Lisa (Champlain) Novitsky; her grandmother, Patricia Champlain and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.\n\nThere will be a Celebration of Miranda's life on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Tag's Restaurant located at 3037 Route 352, Big Flats, NY beginning at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has chosen that donations go to "Miranda Novitsky Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund", c/o The Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning, 301 S.
