Robert Evenden \nHorseheads, NY \n\n\nDied on August 4, 2022 at age 98, surrounded by family. He lived a full life and was ready to join his wife Florence, who passed 9 years ago. “Bob” was born in Horseheads. He and Florence were married before he joined the Navy during World War II. He served 3 years before returning home and moving to Erin where Bob and Florence raised their 5 kids. He was a rural letter carrier until retiring at 55. After retirement they hit the road in their RV and traveled the US, enjoying many national parks and 6 months in Santa Cruz, CA. At 79, they got their first passports for a family trip to Ireland, followed by a visit to Holland. For over 30 years they split their time between Lake Wales, FL and Horseheads. Bob loved motorcycles and playing saxophone with The Snowbirds and The Hepcats. He instilled the love of the Finger Lakes in all of his children: Sandy (Karel) Struzinsky, Janice (Dick) Pealer, Jean (Rob) Zarcone, Robin Evenden and Scott (Cindy) Evenden. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. His grandchild, Calvin Bost, pre-deceased him on 9/9/01. A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 209 Gardner Rd., Horseheads, NY. 10AM-11AM visitation with a service to follow.
