S. L. (Lee) O’Shell\nHorseheads, New York\n\nAge 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior in the presence of loved ones on March 10, 2023. Born on March 20, 1942 in Bellwood, PA, to Harold Thomas and Ruth Mae O’Shell. He lived the earlier part of his life in Bellwood in the company of a large close-knit extended family. He was particularly close to his paternal Uncle Ray, his paternal Aunt Matilda, his maternal Uncle Paul, as well as his maternal Grandparents William and Martha McCaulley. It was in Bellwood that he met his wife of almost 60 years, Donna Lee Wulfert.\n\nHe served 4 years in the United States Air Force which included one tour in Viet Nam. After his service was completed he started work for The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, better known as A&P, where he served as an accountant. It was during this period that he moved to Horseheads, NY, in 1978, where he remained for the rest of his life. He later took employment with MacMillian Bloedel Limited where he rose to the position of Comptroller at their Elmira Heights plant.\n\nLee was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing euchre and poker, especially Texas Hold’em, with his many friends. He was a dedicated and long-standing member of Glad Tidings Christian Life Church (now known as Journey Church) and most recently of the Love Church.\n\nAt his core, Lee was a family man. He often said that his wife, Donna, was his world. He talked daily to his brothers Thomas Harold (s. Joyce) O’Shell and Robert Stanley (s. Debbie) O’Shell and loved them tremendously. They were not just his brothers, but his dearest friends. He adored his three children and their spouses, Brian Clair O’Shell (s. Stephanie), Kevin Harold O’Shell (s. Leigh), and Heather Lee Earley (s. John). He would often comment how proud he was of all of his grandchildren (Colin (f. Sarah), Connor (f. Morgan), Olivia (s. Nick), Amelia (s. Josh), Benjamin, William, Grace, Abigail, Kellen and Garrett) and would often remark that he was incredibly blessed by God for having them as part of his life.\n\nHe is survived by his wife Donna, his brothers, brother-in-law David Eckert, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as many extended family members and numerous friends.\n\nThe family would like to extend a special thank-you to our beloved sister-in-law and Aunt, Debbie O’Shell, who for the last several weeks has been invaluable in her care, love and support, towards Lee and his entire family. \n\nFamily and friends are invited to The Love Church, 3136 Lake Road, Elmira Heights NY, on Tuesday March 14, 2023 from 1:30 to 4:00 with a service following afterwards at 4 p.m. He will be laid to rest at the Montour Falls Cemetery in Montour Falls, NY. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to remember Lee may make a contribution to Heather’s Home Ministries (www.heathershome.org) or the Renovation House (www.renovationhouse.org).
