She met her future husband at a dance and six months later they were married. Tess and her sister designed and sewed her wedding dress which was later worn with pride by several family members. She devoted her energies to raising her family while also cultivating an interest in gardening, reading, designing and sewing clothes for all the children. When all six completed their college educations, she joined the Elmira Art Club and took several classes. Tess won many awards from the Elmira Regional Art Society, Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center, and the Keuka Lake Art Show. She and Bill traveled throughout Europe enjoying their time in Italy, particularly in Sicily where they reconnected with many relatives. One of Tess' favorite activities was taking en plein air painting classes in Italy. She exhibited her oil and watercolor paintings for many years at West End Gallery in Corning. It was very important to Tess to keep up with her many friends and make new friends. She had an unusual ability to connect with people and empathize with whomever she was talking. She was generous with her time and loved being with her grandchildren with whom she shared her interest in tennis, politics, art and books. Tess especially enjoyed sharing her left-wing liberal views with anyone who was willing to listen. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads.
