GILES, Thomas H. of Lowman, NY passed away peacefully on good Friday morning, April 3, 2015 at the age of 71. Tom was born on July 6, 1943 in Rochester, NY a son of the late Martin and Viola Horrex Giles. He was a life long farmer, educator, mentor and a passionate promoter of agriculture in Upstate New York. Tom was involved with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Board, Farmland Protection Board, Farm Bureau Member, NYS Dept. of Agriculture and NYS Direct Marketing Assoc. He was also a teacher with SCT BOCES, and a committed ambassador of farming in the Southern Tier. Tom is survived by his wife, Gloria Barber Giles of Lowman, NY; sons, Andrew Giles of Horseheads, NY; Joseph (Kari) Giles of Camp Hill, PA; siblings, Elizabeth Borah of Franklin, TN, Linda Bess of Webster, NY; brother, Gary Giles, LeRoy, NY, Pamula Lowell of Scottsville, NY; grandchildren, Kristin, Kylie, Colby, Gabby; great grandchildren, Charlie, Kale, Mikah and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 1PM - 3PM and 6PM - 8PM. Tom will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A Memorial Service in Tom's memory to celebrate his life will be held at the North Chemung Methodist Church, Lowman, NY on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1PM with Rev. Chip Possee.
