Thomas W. "Tom" Peck Obituary (1933 - 2025)

Thomas W. “Tom” Peck Horseheads, New York Passed away on December 23, 2025 at the age of 92. He was born on April 23, 1933, son of the late Shirley E. Peck and Myrtle Wright Peck. Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Anne Dalzell. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Ledford Peck; two children, Daniel (Alyssa) Peck of Bealeton, VA and Lisa Marie Peck of Horseheads, NY; brothers Robert H. Peck of Pittsford, NY and David P. Peck of Carey, NC and sister, Priscilla P. Powers of Middlebury, VT; grandchildren Emmaline Rose, Sarah Grace, Addison Dean and several nieces and nephews. Tom was a 1951 graduate of Horseheads High School and later a graduate of RPI in Troy, NY in 1955. He also served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army, stationed in Germany from 1955 to 1957. Returning to the U.S., he was employed by Thatcher Glass Engineering, designing bottling lines and testing equipment. While building the Tampa, Florida plant, he met Laura Ledford. They were married on September 24, 1961 and raised two children, Daniel and Lisa. Tom and Laura just recently celebrated 64 years of marriage this past September. Laura considers one of Tom’s greatest achievements was designing and drawing the complete set of plans for their “retirement home” in 2005. When taking the drawings to an architect for “code approval”, the architect questioned “who drew these detailed plans?” Laura proudly replied, “Tom did.” Tom enjoyed creating and caring for a large lawn, planting trees and helping Laura create a lovely “wood garden”. The two of them enjoyed sharing many hours and years gazing at the woods and the fields of wildlife. The family wishes to thank CareFirst Hospice for their comfort and support of Tom and their family. Keeping with Tom’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
