Wesley A. Cowan

COWAN, Wesley A. A resident of Horseheads passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the age of 84. Wes was born December 20, 1931 in Sylvania, PA, a son of the late Samuel and Anna Mason Cowan. Wes is preceded in death his siblings, Russell, Roy, Samuel, and Theodore and sister Thelma. Wes served his country honorably with the US Navy and retired after 38 years with NYSEG. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Barbara Hammond Cowan; children, Shawn Cowan of Edmonton, NC and Scott Cowan of Milpitas, CA; grandchildren, Chrystal, Nia, Chad, Alyssa, Matthew, and Sean; great grandchildren, Brooklynn, Parker, and Toby; sister, Margie Hayes; other extended family members and a host of friends including his friends at NYSEG. Wes volunteered at the National Warplane Museum, loved his motorcycle and loved spending time with his family. Wes was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family services will be held at the convenience of the family. He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
