William F. "Smitty" Smith Obituary (1945 - 2012)

SMITH, WILLIAM F. "Smitty" age 67, of Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 after a short illness. Bill was born October 14, 1945 in Corning, NY a son of Francis and Marian Jerome Smith. He was a graduate of Horseheads High School in 1964, served his country honorably with the US Navy, was employed by Eaton for over 35 years and was a member of the American Legion Post #442. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing and time spent with his camping friends and family. He is pre-deceased by his, father, Francis P. Smith. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, JoAnne Bowers Smith; son, Jason (Melissa) Smith; grandchildren, Izabella, Alexa, Kamryn and Derrick; mother, Marian L. Jerome Smith; brother, Ronald Smith, brothers and sisters-in-laws, Lee (Carol) Whipple and Charles (Donna) Bowers; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 6PM-8PM He will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY with full military honors at the convenience of the family.
